Apartment house, Na Větrníku

The final thesis is focused on a design of an apartment house and processing of the design documentation. Designed building is situated on the periphery of the town Chrudim in the locality of the housing estate Na Větrníku. It’s a detached house with five floors and a basement. Building has a rectangular plan with dimensions 30,92 × 17,17 m. The foundation of the building is designed as a combination of piles and strips. The vertical constructions will be made of the clay blocks. The floor structures are designed as cast-in-place reinforced concrete floors. The apartment house has a saddle roof with a slope 15°. There are 25 apartments in the building and the mass garages for 15 cars, which are situated in the basement. The garages will serve to the residents of the house.

River regulation with regard to the flood protection and revitalization

The bachelor's thesis is focused on the design of a suitable variant for the millrace revitalization of the Chrudimka river and the construction of a flood protection park in the urban area of the town of Chrudim. Within the thesis, first the current state of the solved locality is described, then three variants of a possible solution are proposed with regard to the limits of the given area. From the proposed variants the most suitable one is selected, which, with its processing, follows on from the already revitalized stream in the adjacent park. The selected variant for the given area is elaborated in more detail. As part of the processing, a 1D hydraulic model is created, which is compared with the hydraulic model of the current state. The thesis can serve as a basis for a possible realization of such project.

Our estranged spaces

The project is a continuation of the pre-diploma thesis, which was focused on urban voids and "vacant" spaces in the city centre of Chrudim. To understand the urban voids it utilizes Ignasi de Sol-Morales' Terrain vague concept, which questions the emptiness of such spaces. From the perspective of economic yield, the empty spaces may lie outside the systemic circuits of the city, but at the same time they are certainly not without any content. Examples include urban wilderness in the form of encroachments and R-ecosystems that take hold there, or various non-systemic activities for which there is no space left elsewhere. In their ambivalence between emptiness and content, such places embody the possibility of a systemic alternative that has not yet been defined. The diploma thesis then explores the idea of whether the principles of vagueness can be applied to the search for alternative forms of living and coliving.

The subject of the thesis is the comparison of selected socio-demographic indicators ORP Chrudim and ORP Polička. Demographic comparison is based on the population structure and basic demographic processes. This comparison is complemented by selected social indicators. Comparison of some indicators is not selected ORP, but also in the Czech Republic or the European Union and global trends.

Revitalisation of the Chrudimka river

The diploma thesis deals with the hydraulic verification of the design of the millrace revitalization in the Chrudim town intravillage from the bachelor's thesis Úprava toku na vybrané lokalitě from 2021. The thesis describes the current flow state and the location of interest, the method of building a 2D hydraulic model, a description of changes in the proposed modification, and then a description of the hydraulic verification of the design. As a result of the thesis, the maps of a spill, depths, and velocities for flood flow Q5, Q20, and Q100, the proposed treatment, and sample cross sections are presented. The thesis concludes with an assessment of the effect of the modification on the existing flood condition.

Perception of benefits resulting from Chrudim road bypass and its influence on traffic behaviour of inhabitants

The bachelor thesis deals with the perception of the benefits of the bypass of Chrudim and its influence on the traffic behavior of the population. The first part of the thesis is focused on theoretical framing of the researched issue. The main topics addressed are traffic behavior, modal choice, the NIMBY effect and the subsequent integration of these topics into the context of the city's transport infrastructure and the construction of bypasses. For the analytical part of the thesis, the city was divided into 15 areas. The perception of the bypass and changes in traffic behavior in relation to the distance of their residence from the bypass were monitored by means of an online questionnaire. This was followed by an additional field survey in 6 selected areas and an interview with the head of the Transport Department of the town of Chrudim. It was found that the bypass is perceived positively by the inhabitants of the city and is mostly used by the people who live in its vicinity. The results of the whole survey can be beneficial for future town planning.

Implementation of Local Agenda 21 in the Czech Republic. Case Study of Prague, Prague 10, Prague 14 and Chrudim

The thesis deals with the implementation of the Local Agenda 21 (LA21) method in the Czech Republic and the possible real change of municipal policy as a result of this method. The author chose four case studies for his research (Prague, Prague 10 city district, Prague 14 city district, Chrudim city) selected by the so-called "most different system design" method, ie successful municipalities on the one hand and unsuccessful on the other. In addition to this dichotomy, the author adds a perspective of different types of municipal system: city vs. city district. The methodology of the thesis is based on two pillars - content analysis of strategic documents and the current outputs of the individual municipal offices, and semi-structured interviews conducted by the author, which clearly shows that the LA21 method is a strongly political subject, depending on the current level of political support, which fundamentally influences whether or not real change of the municipal policy towards sustainable development at local level. The paper also directly identifies some of the institutional shortcomings of the LA21 method as it is set up today by the LA21 Working Group of the Government Council for Sustainable Development based on the principles of the United Nations global initiative from 1992. The thesis is also consisted of field research, what is used in the next part as material sources for a plan of the final regeneration. It also include abstract from the historical period of time of whole city as well as for all important parks what are in the city. Also the thesis is planning the city system of green in which will be connected with other city green vegetation areas.

Factory of František Wiesner in Chrudim in 1930'

The bachelor thesis dealing with the history of the most important factory in Chrudim - factory of Mr. František Wiesner - during the 30' of the 20th century. This thesis contains three section and is focused mainly on management and challenges of this Engineering plant and Foundry during this period. The first part covers the changes in the management level of the company and also describes changes in relations between company and Chrudim city. The second part focuses on the daily operations of the factory and production process with regard to the impact of the economic crisis in Czechoslovakia and political situation in the second half of the 30'. The thesis of course not neglect the employment aspects of this company, which is in depth described in the last part.
